I love it. I ride it everyday to work. I absolutely love riding this thing. My wife Ashley got it for me for my birthday! It was manufactured in May of '81. It sat in a man's garage for over 25 years untouched. It's in pristine condition and quite the beauty I do say so myself. I'm glad that it's finally getting the life it deserved, just a couple generations late. Everyday I grab my jacket, my iPod shuffle, and my H&M backpack and trek off to work. It's about a 10 minute ride, give or take. It's my favorite time of day. Me, my music, and the sunrise, or sunset. It's quite beautiful. Riding my bike to work is a great way to start the morning, and take a little edge off. I got married last summer and didn't really get to experience all of the fun. I want all of my friends to get married asap so we can party it up. Anyway I'm going to start blogging more, I promise! Now that I have my blackberry it's easy to do a quick post and add a picture too. I really like traveling and meeting new friends and seeing my old friends as well. I miss my friends so much. I wish we all lived in a big apartment complex and had cookouts every evening down by the pool. It's a little different then most street art. It's not like graffiti or tagging. It's just a little sticker or a big sticker of something you've drawn, colored, or painted. Most people have probably seen them just haven't paid much attention to them. My neighborhood and the town I live in now has a few. I've come up with a few ideas and have drawn them out a couple of times as well. You should try it it's pretty fun, and your local neighborhood can be your canvas for creativity. Heres a few examples of some sticker art that I happen to like.

I'm back...

So it's been three months since I've blogged. A lot has happened since then so I'll fill you in on how me and Ash are. After Thanksgiving we were issued certified letters to file our back taxes. Good thing they were only local taxes to Lancaster, Pa and were only for like 50 dollars. I graduated CFNI (technically). We moved 10 miles south of the city to Cedar Hill, TX a small suburb were we both work, also were Buddy and Chelle and some of our friends live. I'm working full-time at the Home Depot in the Windows and Doors department. Ashley is still assistant managing Justice ( a tween store). We had an awesome New Years party and a pretty fun Super Bowl bash. Did I mention the Steelers won the Super Bowl, and it was pretty awesome. We didn't have the internet at the new apartment for quite some time. Now we do. Also we have free cable and we have been getting are John and Kate plus 8 on like crazy. Pretty much were just taking it one day at a time and loving it.

Happy Thanksgiving...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_AvToPnqq_F8/SS7F6cyF4hI/AAAAAAAAAHM/fLbXImABtKk/s400/n745625528_3809393_5601.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5273369821646807570" />

It's Thanksgiving day 2008. Bryan, your not the only one who had an idea to post a previous Thanksgiving Day post, you just beat me to it.

This post is from Xanga on Wednesday, November 16, 2005.

i'm here at the church and the video is done. thanksgiving is tonight... well catalyst thanksgiving anyway, and i was just down in the kitchen and the smell of turkeys cooking brought back a memory. you guys ever have that happen? well i remembered every year spending the night before thanksgiving at my grandparents house. me and my grandpa would get up at like five and start cooking. i always did stuffing. we would cook and cook, and watch some of the parades on t.v. then family started showing up. my parents were usually first because we lived the closest. then my aunts and uncles would come. one year we actually cooked a turkey we raised but thats another story. my grandpa would say the prayer, and the usual thing on thanksgiving of going around and everyone saying what there thankful for. once we finished praying we ate (kids go first of course). there's nothing like your family all displaced over the house with the harmonic sounds of football as our family's background music of choice. once we were full enough to undo our pants buckles we would just relax. and time would come to wrap up all the leftovers, and head home. but even sometimes i would stay at my grandparents for some black friday shopping. thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays but it ends so quickly. the day after thanksgiving it's completetley forgotten, and christmas mania sets in. so i'm asking everyone just to take some time this year and remember all those great thanksgivings that were and are still yet to come with whomever they're with. i'm thankful for all of you guys, my great friends. i hope everyone has a great thanksgiving this year.

Civic Duties...

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 398px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_AvToPnqq_F8/SQ73mXnBStI/AAAAAAAAAHE/hP43HSDagh0/s400/vote-button.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5264417252987456210" />

Don't forget. Today I'm going to talk about something very personal to me and my family.

It's July 26th 2008. It's the day I get married. But I'm not there. Nor is my wife, Ashley, matter of fact there is no wedding. She's on vacation with some friends visiting New York.

This is actually what could have happened. There are a lot of choices to make in life. There are literally thousands of choices one can make in a single day. When it comes down to it the choices we make not only effect ourselves but those around us.

In the fall of 1986, a 23 year old woman has gotten pregnant. This isn't her first pregnancy, it's actually her third in six years. My mom was faced with a choice that she had made before. The past two times she had been pregnant her mother had presented her with a choice. A way out if she wanted. Being young and having the support of her sisters and mother at the time, she had decided it was best to end the pregnancy. Now a few years later she was faced with the same dilemma. My father was a dead beat and a drug addict, and she herself had her own problems, but somehow, by Gods grace, she felt lead to have this child. And doing so she subsequently ended up getting her life together.

This story is painfully truthful. And it still haunts my family to this day. I just wanted to bring a sense of reality when it comes to the issue of being pro-choice or pro-life.

I know abortion is always a hot topic during an election year. Obama, is "pro-choice" who wants to try to decrease the number of abortions. McCain, is a "pro-life" candidate who says he will appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court. Let's be honest both plans won't work to the fullest. I believe we need to look at changing a woman's heart then changing the law to be effective. The only way to do this is the Christ's love. When voting in November please pray and ask God that his will be done in this election and to vote how you feel you feel lead. I believe that life does begin at conception and we are called by God. What the enemy has planned for evil, God can use for good. I hope that my life can be an example of God's amazing grace.

Time to Pretend...

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_AvToPnqq_F8/SOWVckHDkjI/AAAAAAAAAG8/yHtQQxDJYRU/s400/mgmt-oracular-spectacular3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5252768858359697970" />
So if you haven't heard of the band MGMT I highly recommend it. They can bend electro synth and trip hop so well. Yeah it's true. My friend James at work is leaving. Isn't it kind of sad when a co-worker leaves. You spend so much time with them (usually 40hrs a week) and it's like losing a friend. I've worked with James for about a year and half. He was my first real friend at The Home Depot here in Texas. We really don't have much in common, but we get a long real well. Also if you have yet to get registered for the upcoming election you should. I'm still completely not sure which chad I'm going to dimple, but I do know that my right will be exercised.

It's out!!!!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_AvToPnqq_F8/SNkDigrjIkI/AAAAAAAAAG0/0m-4JSu42iM/s320/g1-pdf-pics1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5249230732100051522" />
The new android based "google phone" has finally been announced! There is a donut shop down the street that me and some friends go to every day during our break between classes. It's tucked neatly into a strip mall, right between the ACE Cash Express, and the Hispanic Tax place. We started going there last year just a few of us, and through us spreading the word, there are about 25 kids a day going to this donut shop; sometimes the line will actually go out the door. The middle aged Asian couple who own the shop have been so grateful for all of us who help keep their business going, that they have decided to make us all tuna salad sandwich's for lunch after our breakfast donuts, for free!! So if you have you have a local shop you frequent daily, make sure to tell some friends, and you may have yourself a free tuna salad sandwich with some friends some day.

Is it wrong...

Is it wrong to blog at work?

Bring it on Ike...

So when Hurricane Gustav was headed towards the gulf, some people thought it might hit Texas so I asked a co-worker, who is about 65 and has lived in Dallas his whole life, if there has ever been a Hurricane or Tropical storm to hit the DFW area? Actual first blog post in a while. So me and my wife are back in Texas. We've been married for about one month and a week. Marriage is fun. I've got the most beautiful and amazing woman in the world with me for the rest of my life, what else can I ask for. Anyway. I had a really good summer. Sorry for those that read this, I haven't blogged in quite some time. I'm horrible at this. It's an exciting time. An election is happening, CFNI is coming to an end for me, and my wife and I are enjoying are first few months together. Hopefully these few events will lead to some much more fun subjects to talk about. It's good to be back.

Blogging...

I really need to blog more. He lives in a town west of Boston and south of Cambridge, (which is where Harvard University is located). If you have never been to the Boston area, I highly recommend it. Boston is home to the start of the American revolution and home to a very deep and rich history. Many in America are not used to Northeastern culture. Mass transit dominates, just like most Northern cities, and use of the subway(or the T as it's called in Boston) is the norm. There is no need for a car when you can either ride a bike or pay $2 to go anywhere in the 20 mile area. We ventured to Back Bay, and downtown Boston a few times. There are many attractions in the city itself. Such as the largest Apple store in North America, great restaurants, and gorgeously dank record shops. By far my favorite place though is Harvard Square in Cambridge. This small area with it's tiny cafe's, street musicians, and tobacco shops is cast in the beautiful shadow of the surrounding Harvard University, the oldest University in the US. I have some pics of the area, none which are mine, but are from flickr.

awesome ash...

so this is ashley. updating nates blog. basically for myself. read on.
we're sitting on my living room couch while my stepmom makes tacos, my dad drives home from work, and my brother is playing basketball in the driveway with a friend. that is absolutely as stereotypical as my family gets. i actually chuckled.
nate and dan are rollin' up to boston this weekend to see jordan and i am going to visit jess. which i am super excited about.
the wedding is getting SUPER close. and we're both really excited about it. it's been a long time coming and we're looking forward to having everyone together to celebrate the big day with us. it's been so fun hanging with everyone we've missed here in pa but we miss some texans too.
my birthday was last week and i told chelle that i actually do feel older this time. i'm 21. gag. old. just kidding. sort of.
hope everyone is doing fantasic.
deuces.

Basketball and Free WiFi...

I'm sitting in my bedroom back home in Pennsylvania watching the NBA finals, and actually using the internet. This is very, very weird. My family is one of the last few families who haven't been caught in the world wide web. It's odd enough because my little bro has a pretty new laptop that he barley even touches besides writing reports. But, me and my scheming ways have discovered that my neighbors on the other side of this small patch of forest, are broadcasting free WiFi, yes free unencrypted wireless internet. The connection isn't perfect, or the fastest, yet it's free and only available in my room. Anyway, enough of my explanation on how I'm blogging, and more into the actual post of the blog. I'm going to Lancaster tomorrow, it's first Friday, which means all of the galleries will be open. I've started collaborating with some friends for an idea on a short film to be shot this summer. I have the main premise, just need some added ideas. My wedding is approaching very quickly. I have so much to do, including picking up my wedding band I ordered this week. Also my amazing wife to be, secretly got me tickets to Coldplays kickoff concert for their Viva la Vida tour. Me and Mr. Derek Pilon will be on the floor about 15 rows from the front, amazing seats. I was wrong about time being slow back home, it's sad to say this but it seems to be faster. In less then a week I'll have been home a month, and that makes me sick.

Philadelphia

This is an ally. It's a decent company that pays ok. Right now they have country playing on the radio. Country. It's such a strange music. I'm not a huge fan of modern country but I do enjoy the classics like Hank Williams and Mr. Cash. It's a very depressing sort. It's the kind of music that you can just feel the emotion dripping off the steel lap guitar. Most of all It's a very American music.

Rain and Lofts...

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AvToPnqq_F8/SC2bqX-lAxI/AAAAAAAAAD0/Xbwr4lRNzjs/s320/Image059.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5200984296976089874" />
Being back has made me miss a lot. I miss the food, I miss the architecture of two hundred year old buildings, I miss the beautiful rainy days, but most of all I miss my friends, and all the people. I've been hanging out with a friend who I haven't seen in a year and a half. He lives in downtown Lancaster in a flat above a coffee shop. It's weird. It's almost like a day hasn't passed since I last saw him, but we both agree we've grown quite a bit. It's raining today. We're probably just going to hang around today, possibly work on the sink disposal. I'll try to make the most of it when i'm back.

Baby Mama...

I highly recommend seeing the new flick Baby Mama. It was very well written and very well casted. O ya, it takes place entirely in Philadelph- ia, ya that's right. Pennsylva- nia. Home of of America. And pretty much everything awesome. Anyway. Baby Mama. Soon I'll have one. When I say soon I mean hopefully years from now she will be. I'm getting married in 89 days. It's quite crazy. We have got so much planning to do it's absolutely ridiculous. I'm so excited to be married. Me and Ashley have been on this crazy adventure for almost 5 years now. It's quite amazing to see how God has brought us together and intertwined our lives together to fulfill his will. I'm not saying it wasn't hard at times. But our life together as one has yet to even begin and I cannot wait for everything he has in store for us. Please pray for us over the next few months as were finishing up this (what seems like forever) chapter in our lives, and begin this great next adventure of marriage. Thanks to everyone who's also been there for us. You guys mean so much to us. I pray that God blesses you with someone incredible and so good looking (had to throw that in there) as he has me.

Preaching...

Have you ever preached a sermon? It can be a pretty nerve racking experience. I take a class called homiletics. It's basically how to preach. A small little strip of land on a tiny little peninsula in Asia. Do you see how dark it is compared to South Korea just below, and Japan and China to the East and North. North Korea is run by a dictator named Kim_Jong-il, a madman who is obsessed with Hennessey Cognac. He is an avid film buff, with a collection of 20,000 films, and has over 7,000 Mercedes' Benz. This country is absolutely in dire turmoil, and they have a nut running it. I have a friend here who is raising support and awareness. His grandfather was a wealthy businessman who left everything in North Korea and fled to the south at the beginning of the Korean War. The people of this country make an average of $900 a year. There is no way out for North Koreans. They have to suffer this regime everyday, while we in America sit back and worry about what terrorist attack is next. We need to stop worrying about specific situations and look at the world. Who else will stand up for these people? I'm sick of Americans standing up for whats trendy, Africa(Darfur), South America, Thailand. Not saying the people in those country's don't need our help too, but people will start organizations in specific country's just to show how hip they are. Will we not find where the people that need the most help are? Why are we willing to take a stand for some but not all? "If the people of North Korea are just a Korean problem, were the Jews just a German problem?"

If you read this blog please take the time to just get informed.
Here are some links.
North Korean News
Liberty in North Korea
A Video By Google About North Korean Human Rights

Spoken Word, Sirens, and Taco Bell, O' My....

So last night 6 guys (including myself) piled into a car and attempted to go to Buffalo Wild Wings to grab some 40 cent wings. Well It just so happened to be super packed. We eventually couldn't stand the wait anymore, and drove the complete opposite direction all the way back past campus. The Bishop Arts District in north Oak Cliff is where we decided to land, maybe to grab a bite and suffice our stomach's. But to all dismay all restaurants were closed except if you wanted to sit at the bar. The only thing open was a small little cafe, which also was doing some African American spoken word poetry. Intense, ya I know. Ended up staying long enough to hear a poem about sex, and a young teacher not teaching for the money, but sheerly for the affect she's having on her pupils. After the cafe we ventured to another seemed to be restaurant down the street, but again just another bar filled with wannabe uptown hipsters. When all hope was lost, we finally found a Sonic. Pull into the parking lot, "O, wait, I think that guy is signaling their closed." Daniel honks his horn and makes a left in the middle lane of traffic. End up getting pulled over by a couple of cops asking us what we're doing and why we have so many people. While sitting there a mustang slowly creeps by, and I'm like "Ya, pull us over, that guy has to be drunk, they should go bust him." Cop's let us go. They end up pulling that guy over a half mile down the road. We end up going to a Taco Bell a mile from campus, and retire to the dorm to finish out are quest to find a Friday night feast.

Remember the...who cares...

Ya. That's right. It's a texas flag. Why does this state have so much pride. Most texans see this just as a normal part of life. They fly their flag not the american flag. There are stars everywhere. Even people are obsessed with the shape of the state. Being someone from another state at times i'm taken a back at all this texaness. America his enough pride already in itself. Do we really need anymore in just a single state. I can guarantee that there are no other states in america as proud as this one. Yesterday Ashley sold her car, for a fair value. And I also got her ring cleaned and all fixed up. It looks really good. I have to teach at my church tomorrow with her. I didn't really get a chance to celebrate it as I wish I could have. My mom sent me some Easter money, which was very kind of her. I haven't talked to my parents in quite some time. It's really quite amazing, growing up and all. Think of our parents. It's probably so bittersweet to watch this little person grow before your eyes than become a full fledged adult and join society. My mom sent me a card and it said "Son I could get all sentimental about your childhood, and about how well you turned out...but what really puts a lump in my throat is how fast it all went, and how my love for you grew with every inch you added. You're still growing in new ways and so is my love." It really touched me. My relationship with my mom hasn't been the best but I do love her a lot and I thank her so much for brining me into this world. Happy Easter/Early Mothers day everyone.

St. Patricks Day...

It's sad. I quickly responded no, but he continued on to tell me that I look and dress like they do. Now I guess i can take it as a compliment but I'm just wondering, why is America so obsessed with labeling and stereotyping people. Black, white, Democrat, Republican, rich, poor, everyones always interested in what category do you fit in. Why can't we just see through the lines of race, and wealth. I'm not going to mention the man's race, but it is still quite interesting to see what other people think of you. School is back in tomorrow. I guess it's kinda nice, I really enjoyed being able to stay up a little later and sleeping in late.

Spring Break...

So i'm on a spring break. Well since me and Ashley are a soon to be married couple, we were invited to go out with most of the young married folks to get some Mexican food at Campuzano's in Cedar Hill, then off to do some salsa dancing at a local dance school. Pictures maybe to follow soon on that. But it was surprisingly really fun, and me and Ash really enjoyed it, even though we were yet again the youngest couple to participate. Dancing is strange. It feels all awkward at first and you think everyone's watching you but when everyone else kind of stinks at it too it makes it hecka easier and a lot more fun to learn. By the end of the evening me and Ash had a good rhythm going and were even doing some spins. Hats off to some really good instructors, Borris and Erica.

Floor Wars

So midterms are halfway through, thank you Jesus. CFNI has allowed our dormitory to participate in Floor Wars again. It's were a couple of floors in our 10 floor tower declare war and battle it out for bragging rights. It hasn't been done in over a year cause parents got concerned about seeing youtube videos of it. But the way it works out is about over a hundred guys gather on our floor throughout the building to wrestle and spar each other. Our floor was practicing a bunch of moves last night and I accidentally perforated my right ear drum. It's happened before. But now I'll probably end up just being a spectator for the event in the end.

So on and so forth...

I really don't like midterms. It's really quite amazing. I forgot how nice it is. We drive like 50 minutes south and take some back roads and find this little gem called Maypearl. It's amazing. It feels like the thirties. They have a small hardware store, and an old general store with a mercantile. We ended up just buying some glass bottle cokes out of battle-scarred machine and sat outside drinking coke and just marveling at this little town. We also found a pretty cool field to take some photography in.

There comes a time in every semester...

Semesters here usually all start the same way here. Lots of doing nothing for about 2 months. The nothing consists of endless amounts of Halo 3, random guitar playing/learning, gazillions of Youtube videos, and eating. Now to say the least, I do enjoy many of those things. But now the real semester begins. After that glorious first part, the deadlines, midterms, and finals arrive. There is about two or even three times as much work that, procrastinators, like myself, must complete in an even shorter amount of time. So here's to you, second half of semester! O ya, I have to write a two page poem due tomorrow for my generational trends class. Who knew that Bible colleges still believed in some form of the arts?
